Dense Blazing Star Liatris spicata

One of the most popular natives to cultivate in a home garden, this plant grow up to 4’ tall.  It prefers full sun with medium moisture but tolerates drought well.

Once the flower spike is produced, the flowers will open from the top-down, which is unusual.  

Butterflies adore this plant. There are cultivars of this native but we only grow the straight species.
