Tall Thimbleweed Anemone virginiana

Thimbleweed -- it's not a weed!  It's a lovely perennial that can tolerate dry shade, which is a tough environment.  Tolerates full and part sun as well.  Grows to about 3 feet tall. Flowers in late June, July, into August. Interesting seedheads are fun as well.
